DEZ FARARA, singer of the two metal bands COAL CHAMBER and DEVILDRIVER, discusses the possibility of a COAL CHAMBER return. I’m a new interview, he says, “I’m not gonna say yes or no. I’m not gonna say no, because we’ve all spoken. The main thing for me is that the relationship is all good after numerous fallouts in the beginning and after sone stuff went horribly wrong when we got back together to release [2015 comeback album] “Rivals”. The vibe in that camp is very cool at the moment, and we all have each other’s backs. I wouldn’t put it past us, but right now I’m definitely concentrating on DEVILDRIVER.”
Recently, DEZ has been very active with DEVILDRIVER after the demise of what would be the comeback of COAL CHAMBER in 2016. Releasing “Trust No One” in 2016. And most recently on the touring circuit, co headlining a tour with STATIC-X, featuring frontman XER0. The group dropped out of the Australian tour, after DEZ’s wife and soulmate had her health issues, and DEZ wanted to be there for her.
COAL CHAMBER provided DEZ with what would be his first and only Certified Gold album, 1997’s debut album.
Speaking on the reason DEZ left COAL CHAMBER the first time, “I did not want to be around the band’s hard drug use and I realized that going onstage every night that the money was feeding their habit, so I walked to save my friends.” He added that his COAL CHAMBER bandmates were “clean” as of 2012, which made him realize that “it was the right thing to walk [away from the group and disband in 2003].”
In recent DEVILDRIVER tours, DEZ has been covering COAL CHAMBER songs and said in a recent interview that he loves playing those songs with the DEVILDRIVER guys.
Speaking on DVEILDRIVER, 2017 saw the group record a 13 track outlaw country covers album entitled “Outlaws ‘Til The End”. And the group is releasing a double album called “Dealing With Demon”, the first album came out October 9th, 2020 featuring the single “Keep Away From Me”, which came out in May. The second part is due out sometime in the future.
What do you think? Are you excited for a possible new COAL CHAMBER album?
